Name: Kurumi Ebisuzawa
Canon: Gakkou Gurashi
Canon Point: Chapter 30, after leaving Megurigaoka High
Age: 18
History: Wiki Link
Personality:
If you were to ask the School Living Club who is the most physically strong and capable, the members would all point to Kurumi Ebizusawa. The designated zombie-killer of the club. As the one who protects the club members from outside threats and goes out on patrols, Kurumi is almost always carrying herself with an air of confidence, often with a smirk on her face and her trusty shovel in hand. An energetic and foolhardy natured girl, she can handle whatever life's thrown at her, whether it'll be putting up with Yuuki's silliness or dealing with a zombie shambling close to their barrier.
Though her temper can run short, Kurumi does try to keep the group together. You see, her role isn't just to protect them from zombies but from themselves as well. In a matter of survival, infightings between members are prone to come up. One particular moment when the newly rescued Miki confronted them about Yuuki's delusion. She accused them of being mutually dependant, which riled the normally calm Yuuri and Kurumi had to physically put herself between them to stop it from becoming a fight. In a situation where a club member's life is in danger, Kurumi would be their shield, even going as far as using herself as zombie bait.
For all the dependability she brings to the group, Kurumi is still a young girl acting on her emotions and given her role it puts her under pressure. Although she had killed many zombies, when reminded of their past humanity, Kurumi would hesitate before an easy kill. It happens on occasion, but she only ever briefly paused once before delivering the final blow. Even during the zombie apocalypse, Kurumi does not lose her empathy and shown to deeply care for the dead before her.
As mentioned before, Kurumi has her temper. In normal circumstances, her response would either be a snarky remark of a swipe of her shovel, but she can fly into a rage when the subject comes to the people she deeply cared for. When Miki searched Megumi's belongings, she found an emergency response manual, which includes a map to the school's emergency bunker and brought them over to the ground. This find, however, snapped Kurumi and took her anger out to Miki, shoving the girl against the wall while yelling "Don't talk as if you know anything!" This anger came from her feeling betrayed by Megumi, the teacher who formed the club and who the original three members had a deep connection with, and took her frustrations out on zombies after.
This loyalty to her friends, combined with her empathy, comes to literally bite her back. When confronted with the zombified Megumi, Kurumi froze. Due to the deep connection she had with the zombie before her, Kurumi was unable to fight against and she was alone. This cost her arm to be bitten by Megumi, and all she could say to the group was that she messed up.
After the event of being bitten and cured, Kurumi's core personality doesn't change much except for a couple of points. She learned a lesson from going out and handling things alone. When one of the other club members decided to go with her she lets them follow rather than stubbornly insisting she'd be fine by herself. However, this is also psychologically damaging to her as it is a reminder of what she could become. She remains worried and unsure of herself, but still keeps up with her positive demeanor. Later in the canon, her zombification is worsening and Kurumi would distance herself from the others for their own safety.
Since preserving the morale of the School Living Club is important, Kurumi tries to keep her sadness and insecurities away from effecting them, especially Yuki. Exemplified from the one moment where they stopped by Kurumi's house. She found the savaged, bloodied state of her home and sobbed in her clean room, but when she returned to the group, she has a smile on her. As Kurumi once said, 'Positivity is the most important thing! And food's the second'.
Keeping up morale is important for the group's survival, and she insisted on that. It's part of the reason why she plays up her positive and gusty demeanor, she doesn't want her sadness to affect anyone.
Abilities & Skills:
Kurumi was in the Track and Field club, she has great stamina and is physically adept. She has no trouble carrying and swinging her shovel, as the other members are unable to, stating that it's heavy. Aside from that, she's just a human teenage girl with quick reflexes from dealing with zombies.
Though seemingly 'cured' from the infection, Kurumi is technically a walking corpse with a functioning mind. Her body temperature is cold and loses her ability to feel pain.
Inventory/Companions:
Just a heavy shovel.
Choice: Vampire
Reason: One of the main thing about Kurumi is that she has no desire to hurt living beings. I believe that this would be an appropriate challenge for her to overcome as she'd be conflicted, to say the least, even if drinking blood is relatively better than eating flesh. Plus, she's technically a half-zombie, a vampire would be an upgrade... Kinda.
